Ta da! Here’s the first preview clip from The Book of Paul movie trailer!

Well, the shoot went great and we have some AMAZING footage! Now we’re in post-production and the cutting began yesterday. Very exciting. I feel like a kid in a candy store. Or an abattoir. Anyway, who deserves a first look at the footage more that the incredible cast and crew who worked without pay because they believed in the project, our awesome subscribers, and the incredibly generous donors who helped us make it happen!

Yes, we went over budget (as I predicted) by over $3000, and we’re not done with editing, sound design and marketing. I’m not sure if we’ll try another Kickstarter, but if anyone feels like making additional donations or has connections to producers who may be interested in developing the project for TV or film, please write me at richard@richardlonhauthor.com.

So this first preview clip shows the character William, the very disturbed and disturbing narrator of The Book of Paul with a creepy teaser about The Book. Matthew Dalton Lynch plays William and he gave everyone on set the shivers.  We shot three takes at varying distances, wide medium and close, and he NAILED every one! In the final we will intercut between the takes and add footage from the scenes, but I wanted to post one of his takes in its entirety just to show what a fantastic job Matthew did.

Here it is! Enjoy!

My Valentine Birthday! Sweet.

Gun control? Not around my Christmas tree!

Am I really as old as that TV set? No. Cute baby, though.

My birthday is Valentine’s Day. It is a good day to be born.

Set of vintage design elements for Happy Valentine's DayTwice as many kisses; I always say. My brother was born on St. Patrick’s Day, which is odd. Two boys, two saints, both mostly fictionalized. My mom always made a heart-shaped vanilla cake, with vanilla icing and little peppermint hearts trimming the edge.  It was delicious. My awesome wife Ariane, who also happens to be an awesome chef and could fix me the ultimate birthday cake using the Magnolia Bakery recipe, but I’m off sugar. Oh well, cupcakes for the kids.

Helli-Halloween! A Coffin Hop Post

Should a 16 year old be allowed to drive around in 2 ½ tons of snarling steel?

You can thank Driver’s Ed classes for that ill-advised decision. Dicey situation at best, right? Now add a bottle of cheap wine, some blotter acid, and a carload of drunk, pot-puffing pals. What does that sound like to you? An accident waiting to happen? A recipe for disaster?

I called it Halloween.

My Uncle Jimmy had recently managed to get himself killed by busting his head in a fall. In his apartment. Dead drunk. He left me his car in the will. It was awesomeness itself: A white, convertible 1963 Buick Electra 225 with black leather upholstery, six-way power seats and a turbine drive rocket under the hood, powered by 325 snorting ponies. 0-60 in 8.4 seconds. For a car that weighed over 5,000 pounds with a full boat of teenage asshats. As Eric Cartman would say, “Helli-cool.”

6/5/2012: As the prophecy ordained — or the Fire God of the Kindle, The Book of Paul was published yesterday! Yeah! Or as Paul would say, “Hhmmph! What do you think about that?” With fantastic cover art by the award-winning book jacket designer Jason Heuer, and a postage stamp-sized badass author photo by the ultra-talented Christian Woods, the book was published on the Kindle first, followed shortly by the Nook. The print version should be available soon — as in tmw.
